A workshop on Meteorological Simulators (Simulator Build Workshop) was organised by EUMETSAT , Finnish Meteorological Institute and EUMETCAL, with the support of the Erasmus+ ECOIMPACT project of 561975-EPP-1-2015-1-FI-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, on 11 – 13 December 2018, at the FMI Headquarters in Helsinki, Finland.

The course objectives were to increase the skills of participants in:

  1. Designing the storyboard for a simulator,
  2. Retrieving and editing the required data for the case,
  3. Assembling the data using a meteorological Simulator authoring tool.

The workshop brought together 25 participants (from Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Latvia, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbia and Ukraine) and 5 instructors plus local admins.

The event consisted of the following parts: the pedagogical elements in SIM building, examples of Simulators, the SIM session, setting up a SIM environment, introduction to SIM tool, working on projects, finalization of the work and presentations.

As a result of the workshop, the participants were awarded certificates of achievements.
