WP2. Development of educational materials and human resources

WP Leader: Sergiy Stepanenko, Odessa State Environmental University

rector@odeku.edu.ua

WP2 develops educational content for the personal learning environment (PLE) and updates academic staff in its context.

Tasks

  • To develop an internal system of categories – a system of meta-information tags for organizing educational materials in structured knowledge bases
  • To develop short-term “sectoral” courses for customers in weather-sensitive sectors – agriculture, transport, energy, healthcare (biometeorology), and city management. The courses will connect outcomes from cutting-edge atmospheric science with sector-specific economic and societal impacts of local weather, air quality and climate
  • To develop an algorithm for building individual learning tracks based on alternative transitions between the information blocks of educational materials depending on a learner’s level of understanding and performance. This will allow forming a comprehensive personal portfolio demonstrating a learner’s level of knolwedge and competence – increasingly often required by employers
  • To develop a three-level (BSc, MSc, PhD) university course on meteorological economics (economics of hydrometeorological support for industry and administration) based on selected “cases” from sectoral courses
  • To develop a professional update course on meteorological economics for employees of hydrometeorological and environmental services of Ukraine and Russia – using the same case-based approach as for the university course
  • To publish textbooks and teaching aids
  • To update the academic staff of Russian and Ukrainian consortium universities in the field of local weather, air quality and climate impacts on economy and society and to train the staff to operate the PLE

Implementation term: М3-М23
